Investigations by the judicial police authorities concluded that the former Minister of Industry, who escaped from justice, Abdessalam Bouchouareb, and who was sentenced to 20-year prison in his absence, holds property and real estate estimated at billions of dinars, including a luxury villa in Cheragua, west of Algiers, with a value of more than DZD 15 billion, and that the niece of a former minister is the one who transfers Bouachouareb’s money abroad.
In the details that Echorouk possesses, the villa which is located near the commercial centre “Al-Quds” in Cheragua belongs to Bouchouareb, and he got it in suspicious ways when he took over the portfolio of the Minister of Industry, in the third and fourth governments of Sellal (ex-PM), after he joined the mines with the industry ministry, which caused large controversy in the court of Sidi M’hamed, and ended with a penalty of up to 20 years against the fugitive minister, 15 years for the former Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia, 12 years for Abdelmalek Sallal and 10 years for the Industry Ministers, Youcef Youssefi and Mahdjoub Bedda, and penalties that range between 3 and 7 years for the businessmen who are involved in the file of cars installation factories.
According to Echorouk sources, the villa, which cost is estimated to DZD 15 billion, was leased to the Iraqi embassy for several years before they left it, while it turned into a hideout for luxury cars and valuables, and it is known that the niece of a former minister who was born in 1982, who owns a private company in Babezzouar transfers Bouchouareb’s funds abroad.
Bouchouareb is implicated in the false statement of his property and real estate, and security investigations have shown that the latter owns several institutions in his name and the name of his brothers and wife, similar to two factories to produce “chocolate” and “chips”, and also has 8 bank accounts which contain dozens of billions of Algerian dinars and large sums in hard currency, in addition to benefiting from the transfers between 2016 and 2017 from his bank accounts in billions, including two from two businessmen’s accounts with a value of DZD 13 and 10 billion, respectively.
Justice investigations into the automobile installation factories file revealed that the former Minister of Industry, Abdessalam Bouchouareb, obtained bribes in billions from businessmen and owners of car factories, similar to obtaining a villa in Algiers’ Hydra neighbourhood worth more than DZD 6 billion from a businessmen, while he received from another businessman who is active in the field of installing cars, a bribe of DZD 14 billion, in addition to possession of three apartments in Algiers, Annaba and Boumerdes, two luxury cars and a property that was granted under a gift contract.
