Sabri Boukadoum: “All Maneuvers For Protecting Colonialism Will Not Fail Western Sahara Cause”

Algeria expressed its regret that the desired dynamic was not achieved in the issue of Western Sahara, especially since the resignation of the Envoy of the United Nations’ Secretary-General, Horst Köhler, in May 2019, which made the international UN peace track “fraught with obstacles”, calling for the need to make “sincere efforts” to find a solution to the last issue of eliminating Colonization on the African continent.

In a message on the occasion of Africa Day, which marks the 57th anniversary of the creation of the African Organization – the African Union today – Algeria’s Foreign Minister, Sabri Boukadoum, said that Algeria expresses “its regret at the failure to achieve the desired dynamic in the issue of Western Sahara, which has not yet known its way to a settlement”.

“For years, the United Nations and the Security Council’s efforts to implement the phases of the settlement plan drawn up for the Western Sahara issue based on the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination. It is unfortunate to note that the path of international peace has followed the resignation of the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy to Western Sahara, Horst Köhler, making it a road fraught with obstacles”, FM Boukadoum added.

Algeria’s Foreign Minister reiterated his call for the necessity of making sincere efforts in the search for a solution to the only issue of decolonization that remained outstanding in Africa while affirming his condemnation of desperate attempts to impose a fait accompli policy in a flagrant violation of the founding contract of the African Union and the United Nations doctrine in the field Decolonization, expressing his belief that “these manoeuvres will not fail the justice of the cause of the Sahrawi people”.
