Said Djellab: “Algeria Does Not Receive Orders From The European Union!”
D.R

Algerian government came out of its silence to respond to the continued pressure of economic dealers from Europe and its embassies, which denounced the freezing of exports to Algeria through the list of 851 products that are banned from importation.
Trade Minister, Said Djellab, added; “Algeria negotiates the European Union in the framework of the partnership that brings together the two partie, and does not receive orders from its partners”.

Djellab’s comments came in the first days of Ramadan in response to the fierce campaign that is led by European dealers against the Algerian market, and their attempt to squeeze them into the corner and pressurize the Algerian government by boycotting all the trade events and fairs, despite their official presence in advance, to Algiers International Fair, last week, where the Trade Minister explained, during his preview to the markets in Blida and Algiers that “Algeria will not bow to any party, and does not consult them by the principle of submission to orders, but it deals with the European Union in accordance with the method of negotiation, and the principle of dialogue and acceptance and response, and we do not accept receiving orders from the European Union, but we are informing it about our decisions and negotiations. ”

A week ago, 198 foreign companies of European, Asian and American nationalities did not participate in Algiers International Fair in its 51st edition, and the Foreign participation this year was limited to 296 foreign dealers from 25 African, Asian, American and European countries, compared with 494 foreign enterprises in the 50th edition last year, which is attributed by observers to the list of 851 products that are banned from imports, which the Ministry of Commerce started to apply last January, and which is currently under review.

The 51st edition of the Algiers International Fair, which ended a week ago at the Palais des Expositions, was dimmed in light of the reluctance of foreign institutions to participate.
The participation of European companies was the weakest in its history because they rejected to exhibit their new products in Algeria, as part of the process of preventing the importation of 851 products from abroad, which are locally available in Algeria.

Over 704 exhibitors participated in the 51st edition of the Algiers International Fair at the International Exhibition Center in the Maritime Exhibition Center.
The sectors that attended the fair were 63 in the food industry with 52 enterprises, the industrial, chemical and petrochemical industry with 60 institutions, electricity and electronics with 29 institutions, manufacturing industries with 31 companies, and the mechanics, iron, steel and metals were represented by 30 exhibitors in addition to the services with 49 companies, while the largest construction works sector was represented by 99 companies.

A total of 296 foreign exhibitors from 25 African, American, Asian and European countries held the official pavilion of the 3829 square meter area.
As for the individual foreign participation, the exhibition included 20 foreign institutions, covering 245 square meters from 8 countries which are, the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Iran, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

In its 50th edition of last year, the Algiers International Fair witnessed the participation of 536 Algerian and 494 foreign companies representing 34 countries.
The exhibitors allocated a total area of approximately 34,000 square meters, 85% of which were for national exhibitors and 354 foreign official branches of 28 countries, while the individual foreign participation was represented by 30 institutions.
