Security Services Seize Firearms, Foil Drug Trafficking, Illegal Immigration Attempts

A detachment of the National People’s Army (APN) seized, on Thursday, a semi-automatic rifle of the type Simonov in Bordj Baji Mokhtar, while another detachment arrested five drug traffickers and retrieved more than 120 kg of processed canabis in Oran (western Algeria).

A statement that was issued by the National Defense Ministry said on Friday, “In the context of border security and the fight against organized crime, following a search and investigation operation, a detachment of the People’s National Army seized on August 30, 2018 in Bordj Baji Mokhtar, a semi-automatic rifle of the Simonov type, and the National Gendarmerie in Oran arrested five drug traffickers seized 128 kg of cannabis and two tourist cars.

“In the framework of the fight against smuggling other units of the National People’s Army seized, in separate operations in Tamanrasset and Ain Guezzam (southern Algeria), over 5300 pieces of clothing, 4 metal detectors, 3 generators, two pistols and a motorcycle”.

“The national gendarmerie in Sidi Bel Abbes (western Algeria) seized a truck that was loaded with 1272 units of different drinks, while the border guards foiled attempts to smuggle 12,723 liters of fuel in the market of Souk Ahras, Tebbessa and Al-Taraf (eastern Algeria).”

On the other hand, “Coast guards in Kala (eastern Algeria) arrested divers without a license and seized diving equipment, and thwarted the attempts to illegal migration of 49 people who were on board of traditional boats in Telemcen, Oran and Annaba, while 13 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested in Ain Timouchent and Bordj Baji Mokhtar”.
