The Brazilian official Juninho, the sporting director of the French club Olympique Lyonnais, spoke about the deal to join the Algerian international Islam Slimani in the winter transfer market for the current month of January.
Juninho said that he met the striker Islam Slimani at the start of the current season, and the Algerian international expressed his agreement to wear the colours of the French Olympique Lyonnais club.
Striker Islam Slimani, 32, has a contract with Leicester City, which expires next summer.
Juninho explained in his most recent appearance on the French “Téléfoot” channel, that the management of Olympique Lyonnais could assign Slimani, to compensate for the possible departure of striker Moussa Dembele in these days to join the Atletico Madrid club.
“The Spanish club proposes a 6-month loan formula, with the possibility of buying the contract next summer”, he added.
Slimani left the tactical calculations of Brendan Rodgers, his coach in Leicester City, with evidence that the Algerian international only played 19 minutes, out of 17 matches that the Foxes played in the English championship for the current season, and this negative number pushes Slimani forcefully towards changing the atmosphere in the current winter transfer market.
Juninho praised Slimani’s considerable technical capabilities but went on to say that the Desert Warriors’ sniper was not the only player he negotiated with, to bring him to Olympique Lyonnais and that his administration has not yet decided the matter of the attacker that it may join in the current month of January.
