Sonatrach Offers A $ 248 Million Deal To Italy’s Maire Tecnimont
Italy’s Maire Tecnimont company announced that it won a preliminary deal from Sonatrach worth $ 248 million for the completion of a fourth LPG gas train in the “Zad-Sina” complex in Hassi Messaoud (Southern Algeria).
Italian company said in a statement on its official website that the decision to grant it this deal was received from Sonatrach and it is still temporary, pending the final signing of the deal during the month of September.
Total value of the contract is US $ 248 million, including the engineering, equipment and construction work for the fourth LPG gas train.
The project aims to build a fourth train to produce 8 million cubic meters per day of LPG and condensate gas from associated gases, which are sourced from units that are adjacent to the ZCINA complex in Hassi Messaoud (Southern Algeria).
The company explained that the deal is an expansion of the existing project for the production of liquefied petroleum gas in the ZCINA compound in Hassi Messaoud, which entered the production phase in 2013, and has 3 trains of production aiming to raise the production of the “LPG” and the intensive gas in the field of Hassi Messaoud (southern Algeria).
The temporary grant will be confirmed according to Tecnimont’s statement when the rest of the contractual arrangements with Sonatrach are terminated and will be referred to the Algerian company to sign the deal’s final granting.
Regarding the deadlines for the project’s completion, the statement stated that it was set at 30 months from the date of commencement.
“This contract will allow the company to enter the promising Algerian market, especially in the gas treatment sector”, said Maire Tecnimont’s chief executive, Pierroberto Folgiero.
According to the company’s statement, the goal is to raise the production of LPG, which is a clear signal to the authorities to increase the number of vehicles that are running this clean and inexpensive fuel, by providing the necessary quantities of it, which will be accompanied by Naftal and private dealers’s lifting of the use of GPL fuel.
