Algerian businessmen and their counterparts from Spain are looking for the possibility of partnership in the field of agriculture, through the use of the Spanish experience in the cultivation of vegetables, especially potatoes, and exporting them to the EU countries by raising negotiations to open the investment opportunities for the Spanish companies in the Algerian market and accompany farmers in the activity of producing vegetables through the reclamation of the barren lands, and then concluding deals to export them abroad.

Meetings of the Algerian-Spanish Joint Committee will be held next Tuesday at Algiers Palais des Congrès, Abdellatif Rahal, in the presence of businessmen from the two countries and representatives of the national and local chambers of commerce in Spain, such as the Alicante and Barcelona Chambers, where the partnership files will be discussed in the fields of energy, construction, tourism, food industry, cars and raising the proportion of trade exchanges that stand today at the limit of $10 billion, and opening the partnership negotiations between Algerian family companies and small Spanish enterprises, and facilitate the export of Algerian vegetables to the European market.

Representative of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Riad Amour, told Echorouk on Friday that despite the absence of a business council between Algeria and Spain, but the cooperation between the two parties has made important progress, because of the nature of the Spanish institutions that allow the opening of negotiations and opportunities for partnership with Algerian institutions without any contract, given the similarity of the legal nature of the companies of the two parties.

“Most private economic institutions in Algeria are owned by families, while their Spanish counterparts are small and medium enterprises”.

“Spain is a developed and pioneering country in the field of construction, tourism, food industry, training, health and energy. The Algerian economic operators can open joint and direct dialogues and negotiations with them without the need for intervention by the authorities of the two countries, in addition to the geographic convergence which will play an important role in the mobility of Spanish institutions to Algeria without obstacles”.

“Cooperation in the field of agriculture and the food industry is very important, and the Spanish companies are preparing to invest in agriculture in Algeria and export Algerian vegetables and products to the European market”.

The Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Mourad Zamali, received on Sunday evening, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Santiago Cabana Ansorina, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The meeting was an occasion to review the bilateral cooperation in the fields of employment and social security, and the ways to tighten these relations.

The minister praised the level of the strong relations between Algeria and Spain in all fields.

For his part, Spanish Ambassador Santiago Cabanas Ansorena expressed his happiness to be present in Algeria and noted the importance of the relationships between the two countries and his intention to strengthen them.

During this meeting, a presentation was made to the Ambassador on the national system of social security and the national employment policy and the various bodies that were established by the public authorities, especially in the framework of encouraging youth to develop micro-enterprises and facilitate their integration into the world of work.
