Suspicious Exploitation Of VIP Apartments, Villas That Were Rented To Embassies

Foreign and Housing Ministries verified the situation of dozens of real estate properties that were placed at the disposal of the diplomatic authorities that are accredited in Algeria for decades, and were transferred by multiple and unknown means in order to be available to citizens, as this coincided with the move of the two ministries to collect costs of renting these properties to diplomatic missions here in Algeria.

According to the documents that were obtained by Echorouk, more than 40 diplomatic real estate files were transferred in a number of the country’s provinces, as these properties belong to the development and real estate development departments, and most of them in the prestigious neighborhoods in the heart of the capital Algiers, at the disposal of the Yemeni Embassy in Ahmed Reda Houhou Street.

The documents mention that the apartment was exploited by an Algerian family, and the same case with an apartment of the Embassy of Angola that is located in Mostafa Faroukhi district, which consists of 4 rooms that are closed to the present time without knowing the party that used it, as person from Malta Embassy used it and turned it into a special office of lawyers.

The exploited real estate property extended to the UN mission, specifically the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), that is known as the UN Commission for International Development (PNUD).

According to the same documents, the UN commission operated on 6 properties in several districts of the capital in Krim Belkacem and Colonel Bougherra since the 1980s. However, the current status of these properties indicate that they are at the disposal of a number of families named by name, and other of an unknown family who is living in one of the apartments since 2001, and another apartment that was granted to a family by the Foreign Ministry, while the Senior Governor of Amazigh uses a large villa of 7 floors.

They show that there is a driver of the Foreign Ministry who is occupying a property in the upper part of the capital in Sacrés Coeur, that includes a garden and a parking garage, which was placed at the disposal of Morocco Embassy, and the son of an employee of the Foreign Ministry placed a real estate property at the disposal of the Danish Embassy that is located in Ziggoud Youcef Street, and the case with the concerned is under judicial follow-up.

The documents also mentions the existence of properties that were placed under the Embassy of the former Soviet Union, in the Colonel Krim Belkacem street, and which was exploited by a person since 2001, without knowledge of the formula that was given to the Embassy, which is the case with another property that is located on Victor Hugo Street, which is used by the Syndicate of Health Practitioners.

The transferred real estate included properties that were placed at the disposal of the embassies of Turkey and India, and the former Czechoslovakia, and ironically the real estate that was owned by the offices of the promotion and real estate management of Bir Mourad Rais, which number is 14 embassies in the municipalities of Morocco, Finland, the United States and the Netherlands that are exploited by unknown sources.
