The Consul of the Tunisian Republic refuted a reported claim that his relevant services had been formally notified of any instructions on the issue of preventing bearded Algerians and displaced persons from entering the Tunisian territory, stressing that he did not believe that such constraining measures would be adopted to disrupt the excellent relations existing between the two brotherly peoples.
Some associations have earlier denounced some cases in the Bouchekka border-crossing center where some Algerians were reportedly driven back because of their beards by the Tunisian border police after the completion of exit procedures through the border post from the Algerian side.
