Turkish club Sivasspor is interested in signing the top scorer of the national team, Islam Slimani, 32, to strengthen its ranks in anticipation of the coming season, especially as the Algerian international presented excellent performance this season in the French championship with Monaco, Turkish media sources said.

Islam Slimani became close to returning to the Turkish Football Championship, after the management of his former team, French Monaco, refused to activate the purchase clause of his contract from the English club Leicester in the current Mercato, after the end of his loan period in June, the same sources added.

“Slimani demonstrated his abilities after he showed good performance and played a wonderful season with the French club Monaco in the League 1, where he scored remarkable personal numbers by ending the championship, which stopped last March without completing its matches, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and gets a second place as the best passer in the tournament with 8 crucial passes, and he was able to practice his task in scoring the best and reached the net on 9 occasions, which led the management of the Sivasspor team, which ranked third in the Turkish Premier League soccer table, to decide to obtain the services of the Super Slim.

Besides, the second thing that also motivated Sivassport in thinking to sign Islam Slimani was his participation in European competitions next season, so he was chosen as an experienced player who knows well the Turkish Football League, underplaying for half a season with Fenerbahce even though this experience was not successful.
