U.S. Embassy In Algeria Will Not Update Its Accounts On Social Media

U.S. Embassy in Algeria announced, on Sunday, that it will suddenly suspend the updating of its content on social media.

According to the statement that was published by the Embassy on its “Facebook” and “Twitter” accounts, the reason is the laps in appropriations in the U.S. budget, asking people to visit the U.S. State Department website to get the latest updates.

U.S. embassy has a “Facebook” account that is followed by 440.000 people, while its account on “Twitter” is followed by 140.000, knowing that both pages are officially documented by both social networks’ administration.

U.S. ambassador to Algeria, John Desrocher, has another personal Twitter account, which has 36,000 followers, along with the official website of the embassy, but it is not known if they are involved in the decision.
