VSF Global: Curtailing “Schengen Visa” Dates To Less Than A week For Specific Groups

The French General Consulate in the capital Algiers has endorsed a new list of documents for specific professional activities that will enable the owners of these professions to have visa-related appointments over a period of less than one week by providing an original certificate proving that the owner has a specific profession.
This measure will take effect starting from early June 2018.
A statement issued by VFS Global, which is in charge of receiving the files of applicants for the France visa for the center, published on its official Facebook page, a copy of which was seen by Echorouk, said that the professions classified in the category of “private professions” should provide justification for practicing the relevant professions.
The statement explained that these professional categories include in the first place members of the government, parliament and the Constitutional Council, by providing a memorandum or certificate of employment or any other official document.
The files of the European mission in Algeria, an embassy, a consulate or an official body of a Member State of the European Union will be concerned with the special files.
In this case, a work certificate must thus be submitted by the European Mission, the Embassy or the Consulate.
Registrars will also be interested in the special file through the certificate of incorporation, as well as doctors, surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, lawyers, engineers and their families, and provide a certificate from their relevant professional council.
Judges must submit a work certificate issued by the Ministry of Justice, while the Supreme Court must provide a certificate of work recognized by the authorized judicial department.
The special file will also include the university teaching staff, notably assistant professors, lecturers, director of studies, dean, and university president.
The latter must submit a work certificate from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific research.
For military officers, they must submit a work certificate issued by the Ministry of National Defense, while journalists must submit a work certificate from the relevant media outlet or publishing institution.
For the wife, minor children or adults who are sponsored by previous professional groups, a family certificate must be provided to prove their association.
The applicant must attach his / her file to the list of documents for the visa application he / she has received after responding to the information form on the “France-Visas” Website.
According to an informed source from VFS Global to Echorouk, these professional groups will have the advantage of securing the visa-related appointment date, which will be available as from the first week of June over a short period of less than a week, given their professional obligations, which are different from other visa applicants such as those pertaining to tourism, study and family visits overseas.
