More than 25,000 businesswomen in Algeria contribute with 9.5 percent of public production, according to the president of civil society academy, M. Ahmed Chena.

More than 25,000 businesswomen in Algeria contribute with 9.5 percent of public production, according to the president of civil society academy, M. Ahmed Chena.

 In a national conference hold last week in Algiers, M. Chena said the conference aimed at involving Algerian women in political and economic decisions making.The conference, in which over 500 businesswomen participated, discussed three main topics: woman’s contribution in national economy, women and leadership and investment opportunities for women. For her part, Ms. Chaiaa Djadi Djaafari, the president of Woman’s Algerian Observatory said the meeting between Algerian businesswomen aims at exchanging experience in investment and women’s projects with the participation of many economists and socialists.The conference was held by the most competent women in Algeria including the ones who hold senior leader political positions, she added.The participants exposed their experiences to boost competition between women in investments field.”The recommendations of the conference will be submitted to the government presidency in order to revive women’s role in holding senior leader positions.  The president of civil society academy revealed the best businesswoman in Algeria who was chosen by a special jury.The jury has been working for two months in making comparison between the most brilliant and successful businesswomen in Algeria.

Ms. Fouzia Ben Souika has gained this title due to her successful investments in agricultural field. She contributed in boosting production and employing a considerable number of people.

 Ms. Ben Souika who is a professor at university managed to work in business and education at the same time.

Ms. Hada Hazam, the executive editor of Algerian Arabic saily newspaper El Fajer was honoured as the best Algerian businesswoman in media field. She is the first woman in Algeria working as the executive editor of a national newspaper.

 

M. Ahmed Chena critisied many Algerian associations which “beg money” from embassies in Algeria.  “This has contributed in tarnish association movements in Algeria and led embassies boycotting different association movements.

 

“That’s why, we invited different embassies in Algeria to this conference in order to talk about the important economic and political role played by civil society associations in Algeria far from profit background,” he told Echorouk.

 He added that he launched a first project in Algeria untitled : “the leaders of civil society” which aims at training associations’ presidents in different fields to offer promoted association service.
