Coordination for the Freedoms and Democratic Transition announced on Sunday that it will not participate in the consultations about the Constitutional amendments, which were launched by the authorities that fixed June 10 for the National Symposium on Democratic Transition in Algiers Hilton Hotel, that will gather more than 350 participants.
Coordination for the democratic transition, which includes five political parties, along with the former Prime Minister, Ahmed Benbitour, officially declared that it will not participate in the consultations to amend the constitution, which will be led by the Presidency Cabinet Director, Ahmed Ouyahia, on June.
The coordination called upon the authorities to launch a serious and honest dialogue with the political class.
Abderrazak Mokri, head of the Movement of Society for Peace, asserted in a press conference at the party headquarters , after a meeting by the members of the coordination, addressing the authorities; “Let them know that they are before a wise political opposition that wants to take the country out of the crisis. We are not their concurrent for power, but we are fighting politically, because there is no way at all for competition. The coordination is organizing a seminar for democratic transition, which is seeking to devote serious dialogue. The seminar, which will be held on June 10, will be followed by other seminars.”
Mokri refused to comment on the call that was made by the authority for the former head of the movement, Abuu Djarra Soltani, to participate in consultations to amend the constitution, but he said; “I heard this informing through media, while they confirmed it later, as the party’s decision was not to participate, and the national office decided to inform Abou Djarra about the decision through writing to him, believing that Soltani will committed to the party’s decision of the positions and decisions that were taken, since he is a member of the party.
