Zika Virus Vaccine Now Ready, Scientists say
Scientists and doctors discover an effective vaccine to eliminate “Zika” virus, and it will be available worldwide within a year and a half, World Health Organization said.
WHO General Director, Marie-Paule Kieny, announced that the International Organization for Vaccine Production, makes efforts to go too fast, with about 15 competent company that will contribute in the search for vaccines, which will be provided within a year and a half.
“WHO believes that there is a link between the virus that is transmitted by mosquitoes and the small head of some newborns.”
Health officials in Brazil developed a vaccine against the virus within a year to put an end to this virus, which has moved to more than 30 countries.
For his part, Brazil Health Minister, said his country is investing two million dollars in research to reach a Zika virus vaccine, over the next five years. At the time, the World Health Organization called on women to avoid the region’s where “Zika” virus spread, especially pregnant women and take appropriate action when the practice of relationships.
Brazil Health Ministry issued recommendations for women regarding malformations of newborns and other neurological problems that are associated with the virus which is transmitted by mosquitoes, as most women will have healthy babies in the affected areas.
Announcement of the discovery of an effective Zika virus vaccine makes people wonder about how will the Health Ministry handle with it, which confirmed earlier, that all the measures were taken to deal with this new virus, and the quantity of vaccine that will be imported, after it proved ineffectiveness in dealing with the import of the virus vaccines’ file, which is now incurring the public treasury large financial losses.
Health Ministry has already imported 530.000 units of H1N1 vaccines, worth nine million dollars, but it met with a recession and reluctance of citizens, then the quantity was destroyed and the file was close definitively.
