A New Formula To Verify The Lives Of Algerian Retired Who Receive Pensions From France

The Authority for the Progressive Retirement System of the French Aging Insurance Fund announced new measures to verify the lives of elderly Algerian retirees in cooperation with the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, in which most of the pensions of Algerian retired come from France, which will receive 9 euros for each file that it checks.

The announcement of these measures was made by Jean-Claude Barboul, President of the Compliance Retirement Board of the French Aging Insurance Fund (AGIRC-ARRCO), in a report of a Parliamentary Inquiry Committee of the French National Assembly (Parliament) dated 15 July 2020, which copy was reviewed by Echorouk.

The French official in charge of this body, Jean-Claude Barboul, explained that a model experiment launched in cooperation with the Algerian Agriculture and Rural Development Bank is based on supporting the verification process of the lives of elderly retirees, especially those over 85 and above, where a file must be presented to the services of the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank with the presence of the person who benefits from the retirement pension.

“The new formula also includes a branch of the French “BRED” bank, in coordination with the Algerian Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, where a sample of 95 retirees over the age of 85 and above was chosen, distributed among the cities of Bordj Bou Arreridj, Tizi-Ouzou, Setif and Bejaia, and they have accounts with the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank”, The French official explained.

The agriculture bank sends the mail to the pensioner, asking him/her to apply personally to the bank’s office within two months, accompanied by several documents along the lines of a valid ID card, a civil status document, and a residence document, and if the person does not submit to the bank and provides the required documents, the bank will stop receiving his/her pension.

According to the same official, the cost of one file is about 9 euros (8.9 euros), equivalent to DZD 1700 per file by calculating the parallel market exchange rate and DZD 1250 with the official price, which means that the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank will receive about 9 euros for each file that it checks and the presence of its owner to the bank.

A previous report of the French National Assembly said that Algerians alone accounted for 26% of payments for the overseas pension fund in 2015, and in 2015 815,242 pension grants were poured into Algerians’ bank accounts, adding that the focus of this number of pension grants in Algeria raised many questions.
