Abdelkader Ben Saleh: “We Must Unite The Visions Of Confronting Crises To Counter-Terrorism”
lgeria hopes through the first summit of the Arab League countries and the European Union, which is hosted by the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, to come out with an integrated strategic vision covering the various fields of political, security, economic, social, cultural and scientific cooperation at the level of historical relationships and the weight of the common human and civilization heritage, to confront all challenges and ensure the security and stability of the oil market and cooperation to keep abreast of technological and scientific developments, and to protect the rights and security of immigrant Arab communities that are living in in Europe, Abdelkader Ben Saleh, Chairman of the Council of the Nation, said.
“The problem of migration requires a common and comprehensive approach that takes into account the security and development dimensions”.
“Algeria is ready to contribute to the strengthening of the Arab-European partnership in various fields, in accordance with its vision of exploiting all the available opportunities to both sides and all possibilities of existing cooperation, which will lead to the expansion and promotion of this cooperation continuously and steadily”.
Ben Saleh, who participated in the summit as the representative of the President of the Republic, expressed Algeria’s positions on the issues on the agenda, highlighting the importance that Algeria attaches to Arab-European cooperation, particularly in the area of crisis management, counter-terrorism.
“There is a need to unify the visions on these issues within a comprehensive approach that takes into consideration respect for sovereign and national powers, mutual respect and the non-interference in the internal affairs of States”.
“There is an increasing phenomenon of terrorism and violent extremism and its growing links with transnational organized crime and the increasing threats that are posed by the return of foreign terrorist fighters due to the instability that is caused by the disturbances and crises in the region, which requires the intensification of joint efforts, both bilaterally and multilaterally, to address them in a comprehensive and consistent approach to international legitimacy”.
