Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika made a final decision about dissolution of Parliament due to the new administrative division planned by the government, Echorouk has learnt.

Bouteflika’s decision would be a decisive letter to opposition parties and public opinion about political reform seriousness which he called the “National Renewal.”

The new administrative division will need to hold anticipated elections to create popular assemblies in new provinces and appoint their representatives in Parliament.

According to the same sources, Bouteflika’s National Renewal project needs a “credible Parliament” as the president does not trust current Parliament which is described as “corrupted.”

The Constitution is expected to be passed by Parliament early in October and a popular referendum may be held in December. After the Constitutional Council and the president approve it, it will enter in force. Then, President Bouteflika is expected to call for anticipated legislative elections in conformity to Article 129 of the Constitution i.e. within three months. That means the elections may be held in mid-March 2015.
