Hachemi Sahnouni, founder of the banned-Islmaic Salvation Front (FIS)
Founder of the banned-Islmaic Salvation Front (FIS) Hachemi Sahnouni and member of the Legitimate Commission of the Peaceful Initiative Abdelfetah Zeraoui Hamadache renewed their call on President Bouteflika for a general amnesty.
- Sahnouni and Hamadache called on Bouteflika to not listen to “hostility voices”, in response to the Algerian prime minister Ahmed Ouyahia’s denial of any intention to announce a general amnesty for Islamist prisoners.
- Hamadache told Echorouk a letter was sent to the president. It includes 3 main axes about granting a general amnesty for armed people operating in mountains, immigrants involved in security issues, opposition members and Islamist prisoners.
- “The initiative is a call on President Bouteflika to go forward in his endeavour about the release of Islamist prisoners and not listen to voices which spread hostility,” he said.
- He added that the president will announce the release of Islamist prisoners on the right time.
- The letter warned of a delay in solving Algeria’s problems. Otherwise, it may cause a foreign interference. “The Achievement of a new page for a new stage will be the historic turning point for a pivotal phase…so that will cut all the foreign interferences. Otherwise, let’s wait for the intervention of the US military forces and the NATO’s armies.”
