Ahmed Benhali describes Algeria’s stand on Syria issue as positive

The Arab League deputy Secretary-General Ahmed Ben Hali, has reiterated the Arab League’s full support for the mission of the UN-Arab League Envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, and the efforts he exerts in order to stop acts of violence and bloodshed and to restore peace and security in Syria.

• Dr. A-Arabi met with Mr. Brahimi who was visiting in Cairo and expressed hope that there will be a positive response to stop violence and pave the way for the requisite political settlement, Mr Benhali indicated to Echorouk in a telephone interview on Wednesday.
• The Arab League deputy secretary general further described Algeria’s stand on Syria as “positive”, saying that Algeria could play a salient role in the settlement of this vexed crisis within the UN and Arab League framework.
• He pointed out that the talks with Mr LakhdarBrahimi focused on developments in the situation in Syria and proposals and next steps which could be taken in order to solve the Syrian crisis in the light of the talks he conducted over the past few days with all concerned parties concerned.
