Algeria: 17 people get food poisoning due to watermelons watered with dirty water
A total of 17 food poisoning cases with strong fever and sharp diarrhea were recorded last week in Ain Timouchent province (west of Algiers).

According to sources close to investigations, medical analysis show that the consumption of watermelons watered with dirty water was behind the poisoning.

About 3 quintals of unhealthy watermelons have been seized from vendors while investigations are still going on.

An officer at the National Gendarmerie told Echorouk that a surveillance campaign was launched on watermelon fields on the basis of information that farmers water them with dirty water.
