Algeria Among Top 5 African Countries For Providing Good Living Conditions
Algeria is classified as one of five African countries with a high level of development, which provide good living conditions, while the rest of the continent is in the category of average human development index or in the category of low income countries.
According to the latest UNDP report, in 2016, Algeria improved its ranking in the category of countries with good living conditions to one degree in the human development list that is prepared by the same program. After it ranked 84 in 2014 globally, and advanced with one rank, and it ranked 83 in 2015, with a human development index of 0,745.
Algeria ranked first on the Maghreb and North Africa, advancing largely over Morocco, which ranked 123rd, Egypt ranked 111th, Tunisia ranked 97th, Libya ranked 102nd, and Mauritania ranked 157th.
The classification indicates that Algeria’s human development index remained on the upward trend for years, moving from 0.644 in 2000 to 0.743 in 2014, with three ranks from 2010 to 2015, with a calculated HDI on the basis of three core indicators, which are the life expectancy at birth that represents the individual’s ability to live a long and healthy life, and the average years of schooling that are reflecting the ability to acquire knowledge along with per capita GNI that determines the ability to enjoy an adequate standard of living.
