Algeria confirmed Gaddafis' departure to Oman several months ago
Algeria finally breaks silence to confirm that Gaddafi family left its territories.
Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, Ammar Belani said on Tuesday that a number of Gaddafis left Algeria after a request from some of them to head to Oman.
Belani told Echorouk in a written statement that the new statement of Algeria’s ambassador in Libya told LNA that the Gaddafis left Algeria by their request in order to head to Oman.
“This step is a common decision between three countries, which are Algeria, Libya and Oman and will meet on the sidelines of the Arab Summit in Doha to issue a common statement on the case of Gaddafis departure from Algeria and their settlement in Oman.
Statement of the Algerian FM’s spokesman came amid large controversy that was raised by the news of Gaddafis departure, at the time the Libyan FM asserted that Gaddafis left Algeria and settled in Oman.
Previously, the Algerian authorities notified the United Nations about receiving Gaddafi family on August 29, 2011, as a preventive measure for its commitment to international rules, justifying the matter as humanitarian, considering that they were chased by rebel fighters, then reached the Algerian Borders with Karima Gaddafi who was pregnant and ready to give birth.
