Algeria Gas Exports To Italian ENI Recorded The Worst Level In 3 Years

An official document of Italy’s ENI showed that imports of Algerian gas, including natural gas, LNG, recorded in 2018 the lowest level in three years, after the quantities declined by 1.16 billion cubic meters compared to 2017, and settle at 12 billion cubic meters.

According to the annual financial document of Italian company Eni, which copy is available to Echorouk, the company imported 12.02 billion cubic meters of Algerian gas in 2012, including LNG, while the amount estimated at 13.8 Billion cubic meters in 2017, and in 2016 it was in the range of 12.90 billion cubic meters.

ENI’s imports of Algerian gas in 2018 fell by 1.16 billion cubic meters, representing a decline of 8.8%.

Algerian gas accounted for 16% of the gas that is imported by ENI from around the world, and Russia ranked first by 36%.

For reference, several Italian companies import Algerian gas, including Enel, Edison and others, and not Eni alone.

Fuel production by ENI in the Algerian fields was also lower than in previous years. In 2018 it was estimated at 34 million tons of oil equivalent, down from 33 million tons of oil equivalent in 2017 and 36 million tons of oil equivalent in 2016.

The daily production of fuel for the same company in Algeria has also decreased according to the same document, where the daily rate of production of oil and condensates reached 65.000 barrels in 2018, while the rate was 68.000 barrels per day in 2017 and 77.000 barrels per day in 2016.

Sonatrach has previously indicated that the total gas exports reached 55 billion cubic meters in 2018, which is the same quantity of 2017.
