Algeria: Hezbollah is not a terrorist movement
Algeria’s foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra Thursday described Lebanon’s Hezbollah as a “political military movement which is an active element in the Lebanese internal political scene.”
Twenty four hours after Arab interior ministers had described Hezbollah as a “terrorist organization,” Lamamra told journalists the party is an active movement in Lebanon.
“First, we have to respect Lebanon’s Constitution and the pillars on which coexistence is based in this country,” he added.
« We renew that we do not interfere in countries’ domestic affairs. We believe that this principle is sufficient to put the right vision to everyone concerning the situation in Lebanon,” he also said.
A release issued by Arab foreign ministers raised a large debate as it described Hezbollah as “terrorist” for the first time ever. Lebanon and Iraq showed reserves while Algeria did not vote for that.
