Security Committee reconsideri the security barriers across roads and entrances to cities

According to security sources who revealed to Echorouk, security measures have been taken in order to face possible terrorist attacks, especially suicide operations, which have become the policy of the leadership of the “Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.” Yet, the fences and other road barriers lacked sense and had negative impact on the population as it raised concerns about the security situation and spread fear among Algerians, according to information collected close to Algerian citizens. This led to the revision and change of the security roadmap which has to achieve two goals; the most important one is to impose a great difficulty in terrorists movements and other suspicious ones while keeping people in the towns and cities feel safe and secured.Pesident Abdelaziz Bouteflika himself raised this concern of fear among the populations and sources said he deplored the strict security procedures, especially near the Presidency of the Republic where roads have been literally closed to traffic and this has showed citizens fearing the situation and being alarmed.

the action according to the same sources should be preventive and directed to terrorists who could carry out attacks. In this regard, Echorouk has been told that the new plan have been approved for the capital Algiers planned security proved to be efficient in capital as well as the provinces of Tizi Ouzou and Boumerdes, after groups were unable to breach the security cordon around the capital.

To the question on why terror groups might carry out attacks on cities? Our source said ‘’ they might attack to loosen the grip on their acolytes besieged by security forces in Tizi Ouzou during the last ten days’’
