Algeria Puts A Field Military Hospital At Lebanon’s Disposal

Lieutenant General Said Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), had a telephone conversation on Thursday with Lieutenant General Joseph Aoun, Commander of the Lebanese Army, to whom he offered his “sincere condolences”, following the explosion in the port of Beirut, while reassuring him of the “full availability” of the ANP to provide the necessary aid and assistance, a statement said Thursday from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).

“Following the disaster that shook brotherly Lebanon, after the explosion of the port of Beirut causing considerable human losses and material damage, and in the framework of solidarity with the Lebanese people, Lieutenant General Said Chanegriha, chief of staff of the ANP held a telephone conversation, this morning 06 August 2020, with Army General Joseph Aoun, Commander of the Lebanese Army, to whom he offered his sincere condolences and expressed his feelings of solidarity and compassion following this tragedy, while reassuring him of the full availability of the ANP to provide the necessary aid and assistance,” the same source said.

“In this wake, and in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, a military field hospital and a medical team were made available to the Lebanese Armed Forces to contribute to the necessary relief and care efforts, in addition to all the 200 tonne aid dispatched by the President of the Republic, including four (04) Air Force cargo planes, loaded with foodstuffs, medical and pharmaceutical products, tents and blankets, as well as medical and surgical staff and civil protection teams.

In addition, an Algerian cargo ship will carry cargoes of building materials to help rebuild the port of Beirut and the areas jolted last Tuesday by the massive explosion,” the MDN statement added.
