Algeria, Tunisia And Egypt Prepare A List Of Terrorist Organizations In Libya
Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia are preparing a list of terrorist organizations that are active in Libya as part of a process that allows them to be militarily targeted, without prejudice to any future political solution in this country.
“Foreign ministers of the three countries that are meeting recently in Algiers agreed to identify a list of terrorist organizations that are based in Libya and determine the location of there activity”, the Anadolu news agency quoted a diplomatic source.
Last week, Algeria hosted a meeting of Libya neighboring countries, which included the foreign ministers of Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt, and discussed ways to resolve the Libyan crisis.
The same source said: “The measure came after the Egyptian authorities confirmed their right to fight terrorism in a way that does not conflict with any political solution to the Libyan crisis”, In what appeared to justify the strikes by the Egyptian Air Force a few days ago against the groups of eastern Libya, that it considered as terrorist organizations.
The diplomatic source explained that “the agreement between the three countries was a prelude to the exclusion of these organizations and their leaders from any future solution to the Libyan crisis, on the one hand, and to clearly distinguish between the fight against terrorism and the suspicion of trying to impose a new reality in Libya by force, and overcome the past political agreements.”
According to the Turkish agency, “the three countries agreed to create a technical or security mechanism to determine the list of these organizations, and force them to choose between dropping arms or the strikes of countries that are affected by terrorism.”
