Algeria Worries About Morocco's Aggressiveness Against Western Sahara
A report that was prepared by the European Parliamentary Committee for relationships with the countries of the Arab Maghreb Union, said that the Algerian State and Foreign Affairs Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, expressed, during the meeting with the European Parliament Delegation, which visited Algeria, in November 2016, Algeria’s concern about the aggressive attitude of the Kingdom of Morocco against the Saharawi people.
European report that was published on Friday, was prepared on the delegation’s mission which was headed by Pierre Antonio Panzeri, and it explained that the Algerian government expressed its deep concern about the policy of fait accompli that Morocco is trying to impose in Western Sahara, like the expulsion of the civil and political missioner of MINURSO, which threatens the United Nations mission in Western Sahara.
EU report recommended more attention to the Saharawi cause, and the impact of its developments on the relationships between Algeria and the Polisario Front on the one hand, and Algeria and Morocco on the other.
In addition, the representative of the United Nations to the Polisario Front, and member of the National Secretariat, Ahmed Boukhari, said that the resignation of Ross will not affect, in any way, the path of the Saharawi cause.
He told the Algerian radio, that if Ross resignation is confirmed, it will not affect in any way on the path of the Saharawi cause, noting that “the resignation of Ross will not affect our cause. Christopher Ross did not tell me so personally although we met this morning”.
Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, called, in the week end, the international community, including first and foremost the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to work with the required urgency and seriousness for the “return of Morocco to the right path, to put an end to its rebellion against international legitimacy”.
