Algeria’s trade surplus hits 39.77 billion dollars in January-October 2008
Algeria’s trade surplus reached $39.77 billion in the first 10 months of 2008 compared to $ 26.07 billion in the same period last year, Algeria News Agency (APS) reported Tuesday citing the Customs National Center for information and Statistics.

Exports rose up to $70.55 billion in January-October 2008, an increase of 44.96 percent compared to $48.67 billion in the first 10 months of 2007, APS said.

Algeria’s imports went up by 36.23 percent to $30.77 billion compared to $22.59 billion, according to the statistics center.

Hydrocarbons remains dominating exports which constituted Algeria’s main sales by 97.66 percent of total exports with an increase of 44.69 percent to $68.90 billion compared to $47.62 billion, said APS.
