Algeria’s water dams boosted by heavy rain

Algeria’s water dams have gone up to over 48 percent after recent heavy rains, according to Algerian Water Minister.

  • “Rain falls in autumn pushed storages up to 48.32 percent on a 2 billion and 800 million square meters area,” Abdelmalek Sellal told Echorouk.

  • An average of 30mm fell over several provinces in Algeria in the last few days causing serious damage.
  •  
  • Algeria counts 60 water storages including Koudiat Acerdoune in the town of Bouira which has recently been set up. It is considered now as the largest dam with a capacity of 650 million square meters, according to the minister.
