Algerian terror suspect “linked to Osama Bin Laden†freed on bail from British jail
An Algerian terrorism suspect alleged to have “deep ties” to Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaida has been set free on bail from a high-security jail in the United Kingdom.
-
It was the second such case in less than three weeks after courts ruled the men could not be kept in jail indefinitely.
-
The man won a judgement in the Court of Appeal overturning an immigration appeals commission’s ruling that he could be deported to Algeria.
-
- Authorities stressed that like the first case, bail conditions deny the suspect any unmonitored contact with the outside world.
The 45-year-old Algerian — identified only as “U”— may not leave his home or have visitors, except for a lawyer, doctor or social worker.
In the earlier case, radical preacher Abu Qatada was also set free with similar bail conditions on June 17.
