Algerians Ask France To Bring Back Martyrs' Skulls To Homeland
Movement of Algerian Citizens in France called upon the French Foreign Minister, John Yves Le Drian, to restore the skulls of the 37 Algerian resistance fighters and martyrs, which are still exhibited at the Musée de l’Homme in Paris since 1949.
Movement of Algerian citizens in France explained in a letter that was signed on behalf of its general coordinator, Omar Ait Mokhtar, which copy is available to Echorouk, that the French authorities must restore the skulls of the 37 Algerian resistance fighters that are exhibited at Paris Musée de l’Homme, adding that 132 years of occupation and torture against Algerians should not be forgotten.
“French authorities would make a gesture of goodwill to build a relationship of trust between the two sides, especially that this is a page of common history between the two countries, in light of the statement of Emmanuel Macron in Algeria before his election that what France has done in Algeria is a crime against humanity, but these words need to be realized”.
“There is no reason to justify France’s deplorable practices like cutting Algerian freedom fighters’ heads and exposing them in a museum, which are not different from the brutal criminal acts which the whole world condemning today”.
