“Allegations about my origins are unfair”, says education minister
Algerian education minister Nouria Benghebrit said 145 pleas were made against the Baccalaureate results while she criticized allegations about her origins.
“A special commission was set up at the Exams and Competitive Exams National Office to examine the pleas. Score bulletins will be checked,” the minister told Liberté newspaper in an interview.
“The Baccalaureate results this year are far away from the educative system reform goals,” she added.
She held unions responsible for the week results as classes were interrupted because of strikes.
Speaking about the controversy on her Jewish origins, Benghebrit said those allegations are not fair.
“I am Algerian and I did not leave the country during the black decade,” she added.
A national conference is expected to be held on June 20-21st at a mathematics high school in Algiers to deal with 400 suggestions following consultations launched in 2013.
