The new proposal of Paris, on the file of memory by refusing to apologize and going for symbolic steps, is a “new trap” to evade its historical responsibilities, The Member of Parliament Kamal Belarbi, author of the initiative of the draft law criminalizing French colonialism, said.
Belarbi published a statement, in response to the French presidency’s statements about refusing to apologize for the crimes of colonialism, after receiving the report of its historian Benjamin Stora on memory.
Kamel Belarbi wrote in his statement, entitled: “The French Trap… and the Truth of Good Intentions”, that this position “stripped official France from its brutal mask.”
“I previously warned against the malice of official France and its officials and that it wanted to create chaos and suspicion among Algerians through the alleged memory file”, he added.
“The French president said with all rudeness that France would not apologize for its crimes during the period of its colonization of Algeria and that the memory file would be dealt with by France through what he called symbolic concessions. Macron’s disgraceful statement destroys the idea of good intentions and true friendship”, the MP Belarbi explained.
Belarbi concluded by confirming that the French statements revealed the truth of the malicious intentions towards our country and our people, just as all the masks have fallen and it has been evident that the President of the National People’s Assembly’s procrastination in passing the criminalization bill in the Council has served official France and its more daring against Algeria.
