Azawad dignitaries, scholars prepare the declaration of their Islamic State

A meeting between the military and political leaders and dignitaries, scholars of Tuaregs stated on Friday in the Azawad area, to agree on a new approach of the new Azawad state, which declared its independence on the seventh of this month, as scientists asked for the declaration of an Islamic state that works with the Sunnis method and in the presence of ‭ many Amazig from other countries like Algeria, Libya,Morocco, and Niger. ‬

Works of the first meeting started between hundreds of military leaders of the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawads, politicians and heads of the tribes of Tuareg and scholars of the Azawad and Amazigh region, in order to determine the approach of the new Azawad state of after the declaration of its independence from Mali in the north area ​​(over 800.000 km square)‭. ‬

Scholars and men of religion, who attended in large numbers the meeting, that was held at the headquarters of the regional government in Gao and in the center of the city, politicians and military leaders, asked for the declaration an Islamic state on the approach of the Sunnis without excessiveness and dilution to adhere to the provisions of the religion and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

In a speech by the Secretary-General of the National Movement for Azawads Liberation, Bilal Ag-Sharif, asserted that the new state would be committed to the teachings of Sharia and moderate centrist Islam, adding that he praises the positions of many of the actors in the Sahel region, which confirmed the right of peoples to self-‭ ‬determination, in ‭reference to Algeria, ‭state and people.

‬According to what is going on behind the scenes of the meeting, the particippants were divided to several committees and bodies, notably the preparation of a constitution for the construction of a modern civil state according to Islamic Sharia, in addition to the preparation for a government of national unity or a transitional national council that manages the affairs of the country during the transitional period ‭until the declaration on a national elections of Azawad people‭. ‬

In the same context, committees were created for security, defense, economy, finance and foreign affairs mission to maintain security within the country, and to communicate with neighboring countries such as Algeria, Mali, Niger, Libya and Mauritania for an initial international recognition.

It should be noted that the meeting of Azawads was attended by dozens of Amazigh invitees and participants, like representative of the Amazigh Congress, Mr. Shukri coming from Libya, in addition to other Amazigh figures coming from Algeria’s Bourdj Baji Moukhtar, Adrar, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira.
