Qatar’s BeIN SPORTS raised broadcat rights to $15 million from $11 million for the African Cup of Nations matches due to be played between January 14th and February 5th.
Those rights are seen as « overstated » as the right to watch one game will cost $1.5million.
Earlier in October, the Algerian TV General Director Toufik Kheladi told a national radio channel that there are attempts to overcome monopoly over broadcasting the African Cup of Nations games.
He said the issue is « not easy » as it requires commercial relations and reasonable prices.
Earlier during the African Cup of Nations held i Ghana, the Algerian television bought broadcast rights of 10 matches. The Qatari channel asked for $12 million.
