The Algerian Company for Export Insurance and Guarantee (CAGEX) has unveiled new details regarding export transaction insurance as part of the implementation of the Bank of Algeria’s new regulatory provisions governing current transactions with foreign countries and the financing of export operations. The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Algerian businesses in securing their international trade transactions.

According to a statement issued by CAGEX’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, under No. 272 dated August 20, 2026, and reviewed by Echorouk, a CAGEX guarantee is now required when the payment period granted to a non-resident customer exceeds 120 days, provided that it does not exceed 180 days. The measure also applies to export financing operations.

The new measures come as part of the implementation of regulations introduced by the Bank of Algeria to govern current transactions with foreign countries, particularly export operations, payment deadlines and the financing of commercial transactions. The framework is intended to strengthen exporters’ rights and provide greater protection against the risk of failing to collect export proceeds within the agreed deadlines.
CAGEX said it is making its expertise in market research and credit-risk assessment available to exporters, alongside its specialized commercial-information database and network of partners covering both domestic and international markets. The aim is to enable Algerian companies to better secure their commercial transactions when dealing with foreign customers and markets.

According to the statement, the company’s role is not limited to transactions with payment terms exceeding 120 days. CAGEX stressed that it will continue to provide insurance coverage for transactions with payment terms of less than 120 days, allowing exporters to insure their operations according to the nature of each deal and the payment terms agreed with their customers.

The company also confirmed that all of its teams operating across Algeria remain available to exporters, providing the necessary support and assistance to help them conclude transactions under the best possible conditions—particularly as Algeria seeks to broaden its exporter base and diversify its foreign markets.

Credit-risk guarantees are particularly important for exporters that grant extended payment terms to non-resident customers. Insuring such transactions helps mitigate the impact of non-payment risks while strengthening companies’ ability to expand into international markets and protect their revenues and commercial receivables.
