Charter Flights To Deport Algerian Illegal Immigrants From Sardinia

Right-wing parties and associations in Sardinia called on charter flights to immediately deport the Algerian illegal immigrants, who arrived by boats, after they resumed their activities remarkably on the island.

According to the Italian news website “admaioramedia.it”, the frequent arrival of illegal immigrants on boats to the island in recent days prompted politicians from various parties (particularly right wing) to call on the central government in Rome to activate a direct plan to deport Algerian migrants to their country and reduce their presence on the island and prevented their access to the Italian mainland and from there to Europe.

Coordinator of Forza Italia party, which belongs to the former Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, Mr. Ugo Cappellacci told his country’s government that it was necessary to change the rules for the immediate expulsion of illegal immigrants and to bring them back home.

According to the Italian politician, “The influx of boats of Algerian illegal immigrants on the island has returned at the highest pace in recent days, which requires the adoption of a new policy to combat illegal immigration.”

The same website spoke about political demands from right-wing parties, in which they called for charter flights between Sardinia and Algeria to immediately deport the illegal immigrants who arrived in Algerian boats.

“Statistics of the Immigration Department of the Italian Interior Ministry indicates that about 80% of the Algerian illegal immigrants who were caught on the French border, entered through the island of Sardinia on boats, which necessitates activating the charter flights to Algeria directly from Sardinia”.
