Cheb Fodil: “I’ve become a Moroccan and I thank “our Master the King” for the honor of nationality”
After a long period of isolation and doldrums during which he was busy preparing for re-launching his artistic career, the so-called little prince of Rai music, Cheb Fodil, who bounced back to controversy with the release of his new album with the help of Moroccan musician Nazir Khayat, widely known as Redouane, expressed his contentious remarks to the Moroccan media recently, saying that he is now a Moroccan citizen and is very lucky to get the “blessing” of the King of Morocco.
Cheb Fodil’s remarks came during an interview with the Moroccan news site “Today 24” on the sidelines of the announcement of his ongoing cooperation with the Moroccan musician “Redouane”.
Cheb Fodil dwelt on his first encounter with the latter two years ago and agreed to cooperate with him adding: “Daba (now) I am a Moroccan and I have the “blessing” of the honorable Monarch.. I thank our master King Mohammed VI for granting me Moroccan nationality. “
Cheb Fodil, who is now loyal to Morocco and has a new King, has been preceded by many Algerian artists in this line, such as subservient Cheb Khaled and Réda Taliani who were also granted Moroccan nationality by the Moroccan Monarch.
Cheb Fodil added in his controversial remarks: “It’s obvious for me that the Moroccan public has a high taste and King Mohammed VI is a patron of art,” pointing out that he has been steadily preparing for this new album for about two years, after he met musician Redouane for the first time in the Moroccan city of Tetouan.
The Algerian-Moroccan artist will soon release his new album, due to be out after the holy month of Ramadan, as it will be the return on the scene of the Rai music singer who angered by the way the Algerians by his shift of nationality.
He revealed that his new album will include 12 songs, three of them will be performed in duet, adding that that he had dealt for the purpose with several international artists including Arab ones.
