Confidential letter unveils Morocco and Israel’s “love affair”
A « confidential » letter showed serious facts about consecutive visits paid by Israeli officials to Morocco and an open dialogue between Rabat and Tel Aviv.
An official at the Israeli foreign ministry transmitted a letter to the delegate minister at the Moroccan foreign minister Youcef Amrani. He apologized for not being able to visit Rabat.
According to the same document, the Israeli official said he had waited at the airport for many hours but all the trips were cancelled.
“First of all, I apologize for not being to attend the meeting we planned as I had spent many hours at the airport. This was beyond my reach as all the scheduled trips were cancelled,” said the letter.
“I am really sorry for not being able to go to Rabat after all the arrangements we had made. We hope that we will achieve positive development together in the service of bilateral relations,” he added.
“I would like to stress once again in my name and that of my government the importance of political relations and dialogue reinforcement in Rabat. We have just learnt from the UFM that you had applied for the position of Secretary General. We wish you success,” he also said.
The letter shows that there are institutional relations between Morocco and Israel and Rabat’s policy to enhance multi-dimensional relations with the Zionist State.
