Counterfeiters of Gaddafi’s mercenaries arrested in Algeria
Two men were put in temporary prison in the province of Ouarguela (south of Algiers) for counterfeiting identity cards of foreigners who went to fight in Libya.
- The main suspect was caught with the State’s seals, administrative and official documents about important personalities and identity cards of foreigners who went to fight in Libya.
- The men work for an international network. The rest of its members are wanted. A Moroccan got a fake identity card from this network. He is still wanted in the province.
- According to security sources, the network may be behind all the fake identity cards of Africans who fight with the Libyan regime militias using Algerian fake names.
- Competent security authorities submitted a detailed report to the senior authorities in the country to take appropriate measures.
- Security and judicial investigation will expand in the next few days to unveil more details about the issue.
- The gang is professional is counterfeiting. A large number of its elements were jailed for being involved in different cases.
- The mastermind’s assistant is called Colombo. He has ties with drug mafia in Italia. He smuggled tons of drug to Algeria.
- Security forces seized technological equipments used in organised crime. Of them, there were seals and signatures of well-known personalities in the province, sub-contractors.
- The network also counterfeited fake banking cheques which were used in transferring huge sums from many victims’ accounts.
