David Ottaway to Echorouk: banning nuclear deal with Iran will lead to a military confrontation

Strategic expert David Ottaway of the Washington-based Woodrow Wilson Center said he did not expect that Donald Trump would win the US presidential elections. He admitted that polls failed in expecting results.

Ottaway believes that a big change would happen in the US policy to international commercial agreements. The newly-elected president may ban commercial deals.

Speaking about the US foreign policy, the expert said Trump may unknot liaison set by Barack Obama with the Middle East. 

“Would this make America a great state?” he wondered.

He also believes that banning the nuclear deal with Iran would trigger a direct clash with it. The US may strike the Iranian nuclear facilities if Tehran resumes uranium production.

Concerning Trump’s racism, Ottaway said the newly-elected president has become more careful. “Time will show how Trump will deal with racial difference in the US.”
