Diplomat Abdelaziz Rehabi to Echorouk: “Military Intervention Scary because the Northern Mali is the Southern Algeria”
Diplomat and Former Minister of Communication, Abdel-Aziz Rahabi, described the option of military intervention in Northern Mali a “military adventure, because Northern Mali is Southern Algeria,” and warned of the serious repercussions on the stability of the Sahel and nearby states.
Rahabi said in phone contact with Echorouk that, “a military solution also means opening a new front on our southern borders, after we lived on the impact of Libya and Tunisia unrest. A military solution in Mali is scary for Algeria, because it is the option of powerful countries far from the region. Any military operation in the Azawad region would push tens of thousands of refugees to our southern borders, and more of the weapons’ flow” .
