Driving schools to go on strike

Algerian national federation of driving schools Monday warned of a national strike as schools managers are not involved in the elaboration of draft specifications to organize their activity.

  • The federation is expecting the transportation ministry to include school managers in the project and within a week otherwise they would go on strike nationa wide to show their discontent. They also want to be recieved by the minister to expose their view regarding the situation of their activity.
  •  Transportation minister Ammar Tou has announced stricter measures in delivering driving licences in response to the dramatic growing of street accidents in the country.
  • The new specifications include the creation of a national school to train teachers for a better driving training and less traffic accidents. Taxi drivers will have also to take a special test in view of their sensitive job. 
  •  About 4,700 of driving schools may to go on strike throughout the country.
