Egyptian president prepares for a showdown with military power

The newly elected Egyptian president Mohamed Moursi has been yesterday vehemently criticised by the political circles since his ordering the Islamist- led Parliament to reconvene

  • Many billed the unexpected decision “ Brotherhood’s coup”, “ Catastrophe” and “ shock”, calling for isolating the president and imprisoning him. Meanwhile, the US administration hailed the move and called the respect of the democratic principles.

  • The decision has surprised the Egyptian political spheres and the international community alike and seemed to deepen the prospects for a confrontation between Mr. Morsi and his Islamist supporters on the one hand, and the military council and the courts on the other.

  • Yahia Al Djamel has indicated that the decision doesn’t obey to any legal theological basis and would tear down the judicial power billing the move “ Huge catastrophe”. The medias expert Saad Hadjress considers the decision a “ Brotherhood’s coup” over the republican state and clear mix in the judiciary affairs.

  • The former chairman of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohammed Al Baradei has indicated that Morsi’s move would engulf the country in “a state of constitutional coma” .
