New immigration measures are taken by the French President Emmanuel Macron to settle the status of foreigners and acquiring citizenship, which concerns thousands of Algerians, especially students, businessmen and artists, and opportunities for students with a master’s graduation from French universities to obtain jobs in France.

French media quoted candidates for the French parliamentary elections from Emmanuel Macron’s party, as saying that the President committed to a number of measures and procedures, and proposed to every foreigner who comes to France and has a legal status (residence and work), to pass the French language test for the level of language “B1”, which would be a condition for obtaining French citizenship.

According to the same source, Macron pledged to his colleagues to promote the migration of knowledge in order to attract talents in particular, pledging to take steps to facilitate and reduce the time of obtaining talents’ visa, and passports of immigrants who create institutions, investors and artists, as these measures are described by these sources as Macron’s second goal.

Macron also plans to develop a visa system for professionals and simplify access to work for foreign students with a master’s graduation at French universities.

As for asylum applications, Macron and his government staff are trying to reduce the files processing times and reach decision on any file within 8 weeks.

Macron, meanwhile, plans to tighten control at the French border police by developing projects in the main transit countries for illegal immigrants.

By focusing on the first measures which the Elysee president launches, it is clear that he is not very different from the President Francois Hollande, through targeting talents and qualified labor, especially the French-speaking immigrants, and especially since Macron tends to maintain passport procedures for talents, which directly targets foreign talents and qualified people, especially in the North African countries, and provide facilities for master’s graduates to enter the world of work, which means the possibility of doubling the Algerian students with masters graduation in France in the opportunity to work.

French universities currently count more than 25,000 Algerian students, according to the figures that are provided by the French embassy in Algeria on several occasions.
