Exclusive: Burhan Ghalioun leading a Syrian National Council’s Delegation visiting Algeria

A delegation of the Syrian National Council arrived yesterday Sunday December 05th at Algiers International Airport on a first visit to Algeria to meet the Revolutionary Family (groups composed of war veterans, children of martyrs and late war veterans) political parties as well as institutions of the civil society. The meetings are aimed at clarifying the situation and convey the picture of the tragedy now happening in Syria.

The delegation, which is likely to be led the SNC President Mr. Burhan Ghalioun is also composed of a number of the NTC Executive Board members in addition to prominent Syrian opposition figures including Mrs. Suhair al-Atassi. The visit comes within the framework of participation in the week of solidarity with the Syrian revolution organized by the Media Committee and media sponsored by Echorouk.

The Media Committee is composed of Jabr al, Shufi, Shadi  Junaid, Khalil Haj Saleh, Mohammad Yasin al-Najjar, Abdul Ahad Satifo, Adib Al Shishakli, Nazir Al Hakim and Nidal Bahi. The program of the visit include meetings with political parties leaders from the Movement of Society for Peace, Advocacy and Change party, The Reform party, The Centrists party, the Socialist Forces Front, The Algerian National Front as well as the headquarters of the Algerian Association of Muslim Scholars, the Students’ Union, Amnesty Algeria and the Algerian League for the Defence of Human Rights. The week long visit will be closed with a popular meeting at the Cinematography Cinema hall in Didouche Mourad street in Algiers.

The activities and meetings at the centre of the Syrian National Council delegation’s activities are aimed at providing the Algerian parties and associations with a clearer picture of what is happening in Syria. The Media Committee, created some four months ago in Algeria, organised the visit to inform the Algerian people and the political parties to collect maximum momentum within the Algerian people as to supporting the Syrian Revolution.

The MC is composed of members  of the Syrian Community in   Algeria.
