FIFA President Gianni Infantino Slated To Meet With Zetchi

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed his hope that a meeting with Algerian Football Federation (FAF) President Kheireddine Zetchi will be arranged as soon as possible.

This came in a letter sent by Gianni Infantino to his counterpart Kheireddine Zetchi on Monday.

Gianni Infantino told Zetchi in the letter: “I will remain focused on your concerns, and I hope to schedule a meeting that brings us together as soon as possible”.

The FAF president met with the first official at the helm of the International Football Federation (FIFA) last May in Manama, Bahrain, on the sidelines of the FIFA conference. 

But their meeting in a bilateral context has yet to take place. Especially since Zetchi has recently headed the FAF, thus succeeding his predecessor, Mohammed Raouraoua, on March 20th 2017.

In the next few days, Zetchi is expected to schedule an appointment with Mr. Infantino during a latter’s visit to Algeria, or the FAF President will himself travel to the Swiss city of Zurich, where FIFA is located, and meet there with President Infantino.

In another context, the FIFA President congratulated in his letter to FAF President Zetchi the management of ES Setif, after the culmination of the national premier league championship version 2016-2017.

“The warmest congratulations to the ES Setif side after securing their eighth national championship and the fourth in the last six years,” said Mr. Infantino.

“This championship title reflects the perseverance of the ES Setif club, and I would like to extend my congratulations to everyone in this family, and I thank ES Setif and the FAF for helping us present the positive image of football,” he further noted.
