First Arabic School For Kids of the Algerian Community Opens in Italy
The city of Città di Castello in the province of Perugia, in the northern part of Umbria, central Italy, witnessed the launch of the first Algerian school for teaching Arabic.
This initiative was spearheaded by the Cultural Centre of the Algerian Youth Association in this Italian city, which had been inaugurated on October 25, 2025.
In this context, Djamel Allague, head of the Algerian Cultural Centre in Città di Castillo, told Echorouk that Arabic language classes for kids of the Algerian community officially began on Sunday, January 18th. He noted that this step is a fundamental building block in the community’s efforts to serve expatriates, especially children, by connecting them to their origins and their Arab and Islamic identity.
Allague explained that the opening of this school comes in response to a pressing need among families residing in the area: the provision of a safe educational space dedicated to teaching the Arabic language and memorising the Holy Quran, in addition to instilling sound moral values. Through this school, the association seeks to protect their identity and empower kids who grew up abroad to master their mother tongue, both spoken and written, as well as foster positive integration and social interaction.
A joyful atmosphere prevailed among those present on the first day, according to the Echorouk source, as dozens of parents arrived with their kids to register them and familiarise themselves with the school’s facilities and curriculum. He explained that many parents expressed their deep gratitude to the members of the Algerian Youth Association for this initiative, which relieves them of the burden of teaching their kids Arabic at home.
Djamel Allague emphasised that the launch of Arabic language classes at the Cultural Centre’s school is not a fleeting event, but a genuine investment in the future. He asserted that teaching children their language is the key to understanding their history, religion, and culture.
Allague concluded his statement by emphasising the Algerian Youth Cultural Association’s commitment in Città de Castillo to providing a competent teaching staff and modern educational curricula that take into account the specific needs of kids living in a non-Arabic speaking environment, to ensure an enjoyable and beneficial educational experience.
